Round About by Hiram Larew

Of course you arrived too late to cherish
or to douse in the trees
too late for a barnyard’s yell
at daybreak –
and somehow beforehand

But you were a fine sketch regardless
someone cousins intended
like arrows of sorts
or a log to stand on
my goodness a crossing

And for every even so on
and every long lasting
you were approval and fingers pointing
to what interferes.
