Edgar Aebok Is a Mixed Media Artist who combines ideas from both high and low brow art. The Influences of both Gorilla Art and Fine Art are represented through the use of materials and subject matter. The application of mediums like spray paint, inks, and paint sticks have their roots in graffiti, while the use of oil paint and canvas reflect a more traditional execution to painting. The still life is a subject matter as old as the painting tradition itself and is present throughout the history of painting. This traditional subject matters allows for a more personal reflection of the artist and their artistic voice by placing the work in the larger context of art history. In general, the goal of this work is satisfy both the artists and the vandal while fitting into a larger history of painting in general.
